The three ingredients of a birthday verse
Personal birthday raps work when the topic gives the AI three things to build on. All three fit in a single line.
- The name. If it is often mispronounced, try spelling it the way it sounds.
- The number. Thirty, sixty or “twenty-nine again”: ages rhyme well and give the verse its hook.
- One detail. A habit, a running joke, a new job, a recent win. One strong detail beats a list of five.
Put together, that looks like “Ana turns 28, loves karaoke, hates mornings”. The English verse is written around it, and the House Party stage, with balloons, confetti and colored lights, is already selected for you. Leave the topic box empty and you get a general hype verse instead, so for a birthday the extra ten seconds of typing are worth it.
Who should hold the mic
- The birthday person and their best friend, rapping their own celebration.
- Two friends rapping to the birthday person, who doesn't have to be in the video at all.
- Grown-up kids for a parent's milestone, or parents for a grown-up kid's.
- Grandparents. A 70th or 80th performed by the guests of honor tends to be the most replayed clip of the day.
Making one for a child's birthday? A parent or guardian needs to agree before any photo of someone under 18 is uploaded. And as always, only use photos of people who are happy to be in it.
Birthday topics by relationship
Stuck on the detail? Start from who they are to you:
- Best friend: “Twenty years of birthdays and Kim still steals my fries”
- Partner: “Our third birthday together, still can't pick a restaurant”
- Parent: “Dad turns 60 and tells the same fishing story every year”
- Sibling: “Happy 30th to the sister who borrowed my car in 2019”
- Coworker: “Sam turns 40, the only one who refills the coffee machine”
Timing the drop
A render takes about two to three minutes, so this works even when you remember at 11:52pm. A few ways to land it:
- Midnight in the group chat, before anyone else has said happy birthday.
- On the TV at the party. Switch the format to widescreen 16:9 so it fills the screen.
- As the last slide of a birthday slideshow or video montage.
- In the morning text, with the HD file instead of a link.
Running late? The last-minute version still downloads in HD without a watermark, so nobody has to know you made it on the walk to the party.
A whole year of birthdays
If you are the friend who always remembers, a pack makes sense. Pack credits never expire, so a Crew Pack of 35 songs for $99 covers a year of friends, family and coworkers without a monthly plan. A single song is $9.99 if you only need one.
And if other people want to make their own birthday rap for the same person, you can share credits with them through one gift link instead of collecting money.
